Amazing space – Messe Berlin’s hub27 ticks all the boxes
Malai Brüser Tue, Apr 01, 2025
Berlin is no stranger to superlatives – but quite frankly they do seem to have been exhausted in the MICE sector. With over 500,000 square metres of event space in more than 360 locations across the city, event planners already have a choice renowned as the largest, coolest, most impressive .... So what can top that? Well, Berlin would not be Berlin if it could no longer surprise you! And even for this city, the opening of Messe Berlin’s new multifunctional hall hub27 has caused quite a stir.
A marvel of space – a column-free 10,000 square-metre hall
Admittedly, imposing is not the word immediately springing to mind when you stand outside the 27th exhibition hall on the site at Berlin’s iconic Funkturm radio tower. But once you’ve passed through the entrance lobby featuring mobile registration and cloakroom counters and reached the vast main hall for fairs and congresses, you realise you are experiencing something quite exceptional. As Christian Göke, CEO of Messe Berlin said in his opening speech, this 10,000 sq. metres column-free (!) event area is an amazing space – a “flexible instrument” previously lacking in this growing congress and meetings metropolis. In that phase, he has succinctly captured the essence of this multi-functional hall. With mobile partition walls to divide it into variable individual spaces, an event area as large as two football fields can quickly and easily be transformed into room variations for 180 to 11,500 guests – and there are another 20 conference rooms available for smaller groups and meetings. And there’s more!

Messe Berlin introduces its new all rounder
The new member of the Messe Berlin family fits in perfectly. Now, the two adjacent Halls 1 and 25 are directly connected by passageways, transforming the 27 components of the fair and exhibition grounds into a connected unit. Moreover, the new building’s rooftop terrace with its 200 square metres of accessible space also offers guests the best panoramic views of the site. And a terrace overlooking the railtrack combined with hub27’s remarkable functionality also makes this is a very interesting venue for events such as the InnoTrans.
Undoubtedly, the building’s attractive spectrum of flexibility in these dimensions is a major USP for Berlin as a location for fairs and congresses. Hub27 also has one other crucial advantage – its central location. Just a few minutes’ walk from Messe Süd, the nearest S-Bahn (city railway) station, hub27 enables planners to organise large events, sustainable and close to the city centre, and all without any major transport schedule. Not just a real added value for Berlin, but a reason to celebrate.

Hub, hub, hooray! – A drum-roll opening
With the opening event not only welcoming Berlin’s Governing Mayor Michael Müller, but also Senator for Economics Ramona Pop, it’s only too clear the new location is already making waves. In its first public presentation with drum rolls, three stages, a half-pipe with skateboarders and a spectacular sound and light show, hub27 has already given a first indication of what it has to offer – and received a rousing “hub, hub, hooray” from the guests. And – of course – we are yet again surprised by this amazing space!
